Lenovo selected VML after a strenuous pitch process to deliver their key product launch event at the iconic Kraftwerk venue in Berlin.

The press and VIP launch consisted of a 60 minute keynote using a 18m x 6m curved LED screen with kinetic portal to allow presenters to access the stage. As well as the 400 guests in the venue, 700,000 viewers watched the live stream via YouTube.

The keynote was followed by a product reveal and AI immersive experiences where guests could get hands on with the new products.

A crew of 75 over 3 days installed all the AV and scenic, followed by a show crew of 22 to deliver the event

NPE 2024 (New Plastic Expo) took place for the first time since 2018 in Orlando due to Covid, so this was a massive event for the industry. Some 15,000 delegates attended over 5 days.

The Shell Polymers stand was one of the biggest at 8000sqft (745sqm) and consisted of 6 meeting rooms, a selfie activation, a live presentation space called Innovation Center, seating and coffee bar offering branded latte coffee.

9 months in the planning, the stand exceeded the kpi's Shell set for themselves, meaning that the stand design and activations all contributed to a successful event.

On one evening I produced a social event at Hard Rock Live with performances from Toto and Earth, Wind and Fire, free bar and five food stations. VVIPs were given meet and greet opportunities with both bands in the John Lennon room and terrace.

Having done the same in 2018 with Duran Duran, the bar was already set high. Anecdotal feedback suggested we smashed that with some Shell staff saying it was the best event they had attended in 20+ years of working for the brand.

Following on from a successful event in 2023, JWI asked me to come back into the team for this event. Working as the production director I coordinated all AV for all rooms and worked with speakers and content producers to create screen content. EIC 2025 - an international energy conference, is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, President and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and Chairman of Dubai Airports. His Excellency attended the event, which is considered a significant honour and confirmed the importance of this event to the Middle East.

Over 1,000 energy leaders—CEOs, CFOs, risk managers, investors, insurers, government representatives, and more—attended the event to expand their expertise and connect with peers to discuss energy transition and hear from 110 international speakers across 4.5 days of plenary and breakout sessions.

Working with HSBC ambassador and international superstar cricketer Virat Kohli, we were asked to source an educational style location in order to create a game of ‘gully cricket’.

Students were interviewed and invited along to a film shoot, unaware that Virat Kohli would be attending.

With only 2 weeks notice due to his tight schedule and availability in London, we successfully found a location, storyboarded and scripted the shoot.

On the day, all the students taking part, along with some ‘planted’ cast that we knew were good at cricket, arrived to play the game.

As you can see from their reaction, they had no idea and were totally amazed at meeting their hero.

This was a slightly different role for me. Essentially I was location manager but also had to deliver the cricket match to suit the needs of the film crew and the narrative.

Wunderman Thompson’s task was to create an experience to spark discussion and awareness of the role polymer innovation plays in our futures.

We show-cased innovation from around the world. We told immersive stories from all continents of and from Space of how polymer innovation is moving society forward.

We designed and installed a 360-degree 42-screen immersive layout to show 7 films.

Each film had its own character and narrative and was accompanied by a 7-course gastronomic meal inspired by each film, by three Michelin starred chef Grant Achatz.

I oversaw the design and production of the pier, restaurant and beach activation and managed a team across content, technical, build, catering, staffing, security, trucking and IT.

The daily programme consisted of main stage programming alongside seminar sessions in the restaurant area.

The activation attracted a footfall of 3-4,000 each day.

I worked with the Qatar World Cup Supreme Committee as Production Director on their Fan Zone in Doha. 

We constructed a purpose-built structure with fully automated retractable roof to show the knockout phase of the Brazil World Cup. 

1200 fans, twice each night, enjoyed an 22 degree air-conditioned environment with the roof open to the elements of 40 degrees. Over 6 weeks we welcomed over nineteen thousand fans to the fanzone.

Activations included a 3v3 football pitch, an 11-a-side football table, occulus rift experience, whilst the live games were shown on Qatar’s largest ever LED screen.

I headed up a team of 10 producers across digital, design, branding, security, landscaping, technical and staffing, who in turn managed a wider team of approx 200 each night.

Working with JWi Global, i was lead producer for Marsh Aviation's Summit conference in London.

A two-day event consisting of plenary and breakout sessions, a quick room flip for the gala dinner with astronaut Tim Peake as guest speaker.

To celebrate the launch of their new factory near Pittsburgh, we produced an event consisting of high-quality food, exhibition and live presentation content.

In addition, this was the first time Shell’s new brand identity had been used publically so it was a test of the new designs in a real setting. Wunderman Thompson were consulted on what worked well and where upgrades/improvements could be made ahead of official use of the new branding across the business and agencies

Large format print was used to dress the space, with the assets re-used back at the factory in their welcome centre.

High-end fabricators were used to produce a large bar and registration desks which have been put into storage for future use.

Working alongside the in-house production, technical and creative team at Stagestruck, I helped delivered an incentive trip for Stagestruck’s client SKODA:

•Excursion and activity program around Dubai.

•Gala dinner with awards at the Burj Al Arab.

•Full registration website to include activity program booking.

Following that, I was room producer for the gala dinner element of SKODA’s World Dealer Conference in Vienna:

•10 groups of 500 delegates arrived for a one-day program.

•Exhibition, plenary sessions, new product launches, drive experience and gala dinner.

•Managed the run of show for the gala dinner which included live entertainment and product reveal.

Media, key clients and influencers were invited to hear about the new fuel launched by Shell that cleans 100% fuel deposits from engines.

Newly opened location Lavan 641, in New York City, was the location for the evening event featuring top catering and super widescreen content.

Guests heard from Olympian Lindsey Vonn, former F1 driver Marc Gene and Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson talk about what peak performance means to them.

LG’s Urban Dark Sky reserve was created in collaboration with the planetarium team at the science museum in Bristol.

We effectively “switch off the lights” above the city, showing a time-lapse of the night sky above London, exactly as it would appear if the light pollution didn’t exist. 

To make this happen and show the night sky in its full glory, a lot of technology was required. We configured LG’s top-of-the-range OLED TVs to create a giant 4K display containing over 130 million self-emitting pixels. LG’s OLEDs also boast the extreme contrast and “true blacks” needed to portray an accurate depiction of what a truly dark sky would look like above the city.

Corporate experiential event for a high street bank. 5 experiential zones told the story of the bank different customers to delegates from a cross the business. The experiences were topped and tailed with plenary sessions.

5 groups of 200 per day were broken down into 5 groups of 40 and taken through the experience.

Logistical management had to be spot on to ensure each group finished at the same time and exited the building before the next group arrived.

Theming, logistics, content and technical productions services were all integrated to ensure a seamless delivery for each group

The global #showyourcolourcampaign by Beats By Dre, encouraged the public to take part in a competition, the winners of which would be flown to LA to take part in the filming of the next Beats TV spot.

MKTG were asked to coordinate large events in Times Square New York and Covent Garden London to launch the campaign.

We designed and built structures containing photo booths and large LCD screens. The public entered the booths where brand ambassadors helped them choose headphones in a colour of their choice and then pose in front of the bespoke automated system. A word of their choice was added to the photo before being projected to the crowds in the piazza.

Dr Dre made a surprise appearance and spent time with the crowds before entering the booth.

The campaign was then transferred into a roadshow format to tour France, Germany, Spain and Hong Kong as well as appearing back stage at RizzleKicks’ gig.

Nike asked MKTG to create and deliver its first night-time, women-only 10K race in 2013. Races were staged in London, Paris, Berlin and Madrid with local agencies being lead by the MKTG team’s creative direction for the London race.

I worked with Nike’s in-house PR team to create a social media campaign to raise awareness and a runners’ registration website to track numbers.

Victoria Park was chosen and we built a village with bag-drop, catering, a stage for live warm-up and DJ performances, start gantry and an interactive finish tunnel.

•The race was the most socially-connected run Nike had ever staged.

RFID technology provided runners with split times available within an hour after the race, live streaming of the race, dedicated wireless internet for runners to post selfies to social media and Xylobands providing a coordinated light show at points around the course.

I worked with Wasserman’s client Martini to devise and execute Caffe Torino and F1 Terrazza activations 

Working closely with the client and managing a team of account managers, operation managers and creatives, we produced a toolkit to drive cost efficiencies, raise production standards and provide a consistent brand experience across a series of events.

The toolkit provided a kit of cap-ex assets produced locally in-market, guidelines and inspirational elements to help local partner agencies deliver a consistent brand look-and-feel as well as drive efficiencies by multiple use of the assets.

Steinhoff wanted to create a buzz around their IPO launch in Frankfurt than exceeded all previous activations at the stock exchange

We purchased and refurbished 4 shipping containers, fully branded, powered and fitted-out with their brands’ products representing the home – kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room

All containers were dropped in place, powered-up within 2 hours ready for the press

Choreography of a living exhibition by actors in each container followed by a flash mob routine replicated six times during the day

Production of a 1-day press launch event consisting of a dramatic opening stunt. Using kinesys motors to raise a 15m x 15m cube to reveal a presentation space within with 360 ultra widescreen projection.

Working with White Production’s client Amey, I was brought in to produce their annual senior management conference.

The 1-day conference took place at Manchester Central followed by a gala dinner at Hilton Manchester Deansgate.

We provided complete production from delegate management and online registration, to theming and graphic design and technical delivery.

Indigo Ag sponsored the inaugural Beneficial Ag Conference in Memphis Tennessee.

Keynote sessions topped and tailed breakout sessions and during lunch delegates interacted with exhibition stands holders to learn more about the future of sustainable farming in the USA.

An evening reception on the rooftop of the Peabody Hotel provided locally sourced food and drink via a bespoke menu, created with the hotel chef.

Delegates registered via a bespoke app, which also provided personalised agendas, event information, floor plans, speaker biogs and voting/question asking options.

The London leg of the Gatorade Unreal Around the World competition took place at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

A series of football skills challenges and 5-a-side games encouraged 120 young budding professionals to show of their skills and score points to win the competition.

A stage was installed in the centre circle for presentations and a DJ. Pyrotechnics added to the spectacle.
